About the pilot
The Bulgarian pilot involves a multidisciplinary approach aimed at raising awareness and reducing stigma among the general population and stakeholders involved in neurocognitive diseases. Implementation includes events, training, educational material distribution, presentations and in-person or online meetings. Activities focus on providing information about dementia and available support services, training on early identification of dementia symptoms, workshops on caring for people with dementia, and informational materials on active ageing and dementia prevention.

Sustainability and transferability
Many activities are based on reusable informational resources, including presentations, leaflets and other educational materials. These resources can support further national activities and can be adapted by other countries through translation. Dementia awareness and stigma reduction address shared challenges that extend beyond geographical and cultural differences.
Health literacy
The pilot contributes directly to reducing dementia-related stigma and improving knowledge among the general population and medical professionals through an educational and evidence-based approach. For institutional stakeholders, its implementation can also inform future decisions about dementia awareness and support a better understanding of the lives of people with dementia.
