About the pilot
The Bulgarian pilot shares its design with the ISABIAL pilot. It focuses on biomechanical monitoring of motor function, including strength, gait, balance and motor coordination, to assess the effectiveness of routine clinical interventions in stroke patients. Assessment will combine hardware and software tools such as dynamometers, heart-rate sensors and specialised smartphone applications.
Objectives
Primary objective
To evaluate the feasibility of integrating biomechanical and wearable technologies for quantitative assessment of motor function in stroke patients.
Secondary objectives
1. To improve functional recovery monitoring.
2. To identify early physical indicators potentially associated with frailty and vascular cognitive impairment.
2. To identify early physical indicators potentially associated with frailty and vascular cognitive impairment.
Expected outcomes
Results
Available after the pilot concludes.
Lessons learnt
Available after the pilot concludes.
Sustainability and transferability
The pilot is designed for implementation in Bulgaria and Spain, demonstrating transferability across geographical contexts. Successful completion within JADE Health could provide a starting point for transfer to other European countries.
Health literacy
Biomechanical monitoring of stroke patients improves healthcare professionals’ knowledge of motor-function recovery trajectories and patients’ physical progress after stroke.
