About the pilot
This pilot will implement a Dementia Health Literacy intervention in the Valencian context. It aims to improve knowledge about dementia, neurocognitive disorders and stroke, reduce stigma and misconceptions, and promote brain health. For healthcare professionals, it will also address communication with patients, relatives and caregivers, supporting more respectful, informed care, management and decision-making.
Objectives
Primary objective
To implement and evaluate the feasibility, acceptability and preliminary effectiveness of a Dementia Health Literacy intervention.
Expected outcomes
The pilot is expected to improve knowledge of dementia and stroke by increasing awareness of prevention, early signs and care resources, and to contribute to more informed and person-centred care.
Results
Not available yet. Pilot outcomes will be analysed through a pre-post intervention assessment design.
Lessons learnt
Lessons learnt are not yet available because the pilot is still in preparation. Preliminary planning has highlighted that healthcare professionals may have limited availability to attend live sessions and that synchronous formats may reduce participation.
Sustainability and transferability
The pilot will prioritise a simple, low-cost and feasible format, minimising the time and resource burden for participants and implementing teams. Accessible materials and short training components will be reusable, updateable and suitable for integration into healthcare or community settings.
Health literacy
The pilot directly addresses Dementia Health Literacy by improving participants’ ability to understand dementia, neurocognitive disorders and stroke. It supports informed decisions and strengthens communication between patients, informal caregivers and professionals.
