JADE Health welcomes the Malta Dementia Society as a new stakeholder!
Joint Action JADE Health addressing DEmentia and HEALTH is pleased to announce that The Malta Dementia Society is a new member of the JADE health stakeholder network.
The Malta Dementia Society is a registered non-governmental not-for-profit organisation established in September 2004, for individuals living with dementia, their carers, families and friends in Malta, bringing together health and social care professionals and interested persons to enhance the quality of life of these individuals whilst promoting public awareness. The Society also runs a number of community and home-based services.
The Society promotes the best methods of care, education, and treatment for individuals living with dementia and related disorders throughout the Maltese Islands and elsewhere. This is achieved by providing literature to disseminate knowledge about dementia to patients, carers, and the public in general. Expanding to activities like Reading hands, Malta Dementia Working groups, Dancing to Dementia, or providing legal advice services.
The society organises courses, lectures and conferences in the various areas relating to dementia. Encourages the training of personnel who provide services for individuals living with dementia, attendance at conferences and research. Through its work, the society helps to establish good relations with the general public and other providers of services to individuals with dementia and influences policy making.
As JADE Health’s missions is very similar to the one of The Malta Dementia Society to help individuals living with dementia via fostering early intervention, improving prevention, and management of dementia to reduce health inequalities and elevate societal awareness against stigma. So we are positive that our future co-operation with the Malta Dementia Society will be fruitful.
Together we can do a lot to improve the quality of life of individuals living with dementia as well as to ease their carers’ and relatives’ life; bringing in new skills and best practises to enhance and enable them to succeed in their important mission.
JADE Health looks forward to its cooperation with The Malta Dementia Society in the area of policy development, early detection treatment options and sharing effective public policies, which are all important elements to provide quality care and maintaining cognitively impaired people’s autonomy.
We are convinced that this collaboration will contribute to sharing experiences and good practices on raising awareness on dementia, Alzheimer and providing new ways of training or educational programmes for relatives and care staff.
