JADE Health in the Dementia Care Symposium: Empowering Minds: Innovation and Compassion in Dementia Care
We are very pleased to share that our consortium partner, the Department for Active Ageing and Community Care (AACC) , from Malta will participate at the first ever Dementia Care Symposium: Empowering Minds: Innovation and Compassion in Dementia Care.
The event will take place in Malta on 28th March 2025, and is designed to inspire, inform, and ignite change in dementia care; shaping the future for those living with dementia and their caregivers.
The Symposium will also provide a global view of dementia care, highlighting the importance of international collaboration and strategies to overcome the growing challenges of dementia.
We are grateful for the opportunity that our Joint Action along with Care4Elders_EU4H project promoting best practices, will be presented in the framework of the Symposium.
Dr. Lara Camilleri (Department of Active Ageing and Community Care, Malta) will introduce JADEHealth in her presentation titled “Brain Health Clinic in Malta” and there will be an information desk set up to provide detailed information on
that attendees can visit in the coffee breaks.
The Symposium will offer a comprehensive look at global perspectives, ground-breaking innovations, and compassionate caregiving strategies that are shaping the future of dementia care.
After a keynote address providing a global view of dementia care, a Dementia Care session will explore cutting-edge initiatives transforming the field, covering themes from brain health clinics focusing on early detection. Attendees will gain insight into pioneering approaches aimed at improving quality of life for those living with dementia.
Additionally, the importance of cognitive stimulating activities will be discussed, to be followed by a dynamic panel discussion examining real-world applications of these innovative strategies.
After a brief coffee break, the symposium will discuss the delicate balance between preserving autonomy and delivering compassionate care, focusing on issues of autonomy and compassion in dementia care. Participants will learn about maintaining functionality through meaningful activities, the role of mental capacity in care decisions, and will hear about a study, which explored valuable insights from individuals with dementia themselves.
The session will include another panel discussion, emphasizing the lived experiences of those impacted by dementia and the importance of both autonomy and compassion.
The Symposium will also feature a powerful Caregiver Experience panel, where real-life caregivers will share their personal stories, providing a deeper understanding of the challenges and rewards they face, and the strategies they use to provide effective care.
Finally, an awards ceremony will take place recognizing exceptional contributions to dementia care, honouring individuals who have made a meaningful impact. Following the ceremony, attendees will have the opportunity to network and enjoy a lunch together, fostering further discussions and collaboration.
On behalf of JA JADEHealth we express our sincerest thanks for the opportunity to be included in such a transformative conversation about dementia care, innovation, and support— We are excited to carry on implementing our project with dedicated partners like AACC.
Let’s shape the future together for those living with dementia and their caregivers.
