The International Federation on Ageing (IFA) is an international non-governmental organisation founded in 1973, with the mission to drive global intersectoral collaboration on healthy ageing and longevity. For more than five decades, IFA has played a catalytic role in shaping global frameworks, convening governments and stakeholders, and advancing policy and collective action to help societies respond to population ageing and build longevity-ready futures.
IFA is a global civil society organisation that brings together leaders, organisations and communities to advance healthy ageing worldwide. Guided by a life-course approach and grounded in collaboration, IFA works across sectors to influence policy, strengthen systems and improve lives. Its membership is composed of governments, civil society organisations, academia, industry, and individuals from nearly 80 countries, who all collaborate to mobilise knowledge, shape policy and advance good practice globally.
Through strategic convening, knowledge mobilisation, evidence generation and policy advocacy, IFA helps shape the global agenda on healthy ageing and longevity. The organisation holds General Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and is a non-State actor in official relations with the World Health Organization (WHO).
Co-created with IFA members, partners and communities, IFA's cross-cutting focus areas reflect a multisectoral, intersectional and life-course approach to healthy ageing and longevity:
