We look forward to our collaboration with The Hungarian Catholic Social Service as they have joined our stakeholder network!

The Hungarian Catholic Social Service is maintained by the Hungarian Catholic Bishops’ Conference, with the mission to provide care for the elderly, families, people living with disabilities, and all those in need.

The Service was founded in 1950, and ever since it operates with strong, highly skilled and devoted personnels throughout the country who are dedicated to serving those in their charge. Regular training and retreats contribute greatly to the commitment to serve those entrusted to the services of the Catholic Social Service.

The Hungarian Catholic Social Service functions as the official professional methodological centre of the Catholic Church. Its methodological tasks are provided for all the institutions maintained by the Catholic Church offering social care services. This work involves providing professional support, assistance, and guidance to ensure compliance with professional standards and extends to participating in official inspections.

As an institution, they provide everyday care for:

  • the elderly
  • premature babies
  • infants and young children born with mobility and other developmental disabilities
  • people with severe cumulative disabilities
  • mental health rehabilitation centre for young people with cancer and their families,

They also offer shelter for adults and young children who are at risk of homelessness or domestic violence, and function as a mental health rehabilitation centre for young people with cancer and their families.

Recently support for addicts and their families has been started too. This service is guided by the spirit of the Catholic Church, while involving professionals, to build value-centred local communities.

A key part of their methodological role is to convey feedback from the institutional system to decision makers in charge of sectoral management to enhance high quality of care by using advanced professional methodologies and cooperation.

The Hungarian Catholic Social Service regularly organises professional conferences and training sessions, in order to disseminate the latest professional methods among care staff.

They operate the Demencia.eu website since 2017. This unique Dementia Program supports and brings together individuals, families, and communities affected by dementia with the aim to raise awareness, outreach, inform and disseminate through public education, and training. soas3 different programmes: Dementia Information Hours (DIÓ), Alzheimer’s Cafés, and Senior  Dance Sessions are arranged at various locations throughout the country.

The Catholic Charity Service has been organizing a series of World Alzheimer’s Day events since 2019, with the support of the Municipality of Székesfehérvár, honouring World Alzheimer’s Day (21 September) so as to draw societal attention to people living with dementia, their family members as well as assist their extended communities.

We welcome The Catholic Charity Service in our stakeholder network! We are positive that together we can make an impact in improving dementia care patients’ and their families’ life.
