Alzheimer Espana (FAE) Joins JadeHealth’s Stakeholder Network
The Alzheimer's Foundation Spain (FAE) is a national non-profit organization, founded in 1991, whose mission is to improve the quality of life of people affected by Alzheimer's, their families, and caregivers through comprehensive and multidisciplinary care.
FAE advocates for proper care and treatment of individuals with Alzheimer’s or other dementias, involving families and caregivers, and providing them with the tools, knowledge, and support needed to ensure high-quality care. The Foundation offers psychosocial services and specialized programs such as:
- Care and Support: Welcome service, initial guidance, and psychological support (individual and group) for caregivers.
- Continuous in-person and online training for families and professionals.
- Therapeutic programs: cognitive stimulation, music therapy, and shared leisure.
- Awareness and Research: Outreach projects and support for social and health research.
The Foundation also promotes and focuses on:
- Promoting research on Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative disorders to advance scientific knowledge.
- Supporting families by disseminating information about the signs and symptoms of the disease, its progression, and advances in research and innovative treatments.
- Providing information and training to families, volunteers, and interested individuals to better understand the challenges of caring for Alzheimer or dementia patients, offering practical solutions that improve patients’ quality of life and daily coexistence.
- Representing the interests of patients and their caregivers, advocating for access to available benefits and appropriate healthcare services, while ensuring that both the patient’s social situation and the family’s socio-economic burden are considered.
- Raising public awareness to reduce the stigma associated with brain disease and its consequence, social exclusion.
FAE provides assistance through its own centers and in collaboration with institutional or private healthcare establishments. In Spain, it is legally recognized by the Ministry of Health and Social Services as a social aid entity. Furthermore, it actively participates in defining health policies as part of the Technical Committee of the Strategy on Neurodegenerative Diseases of the National Health System (SNS).
To promote research and social action, the FAE fosters alliances with universities, hospitals, and Third Sector entities. Internationally, it is a founding member of Alzheimer Europe, collaborating on research, training, and rights advocacy projects, always ensuring that its comprehensive care focuses on the well-being of people with Alzheimer's, their families, and caregivers.
We are very pleased to cooperate with Alzheimer España in the future, as we are both committed to improving services for people living with neurodegenerative diseases and supporting their families and caregivers. We are excited to start a common journey to enhance quality care for Alzheimer patients and promote the use of advanced IT technologies and research
