We are pleased to welcome the Margit Slachta National Institute for Social Policy from Hungary as a new member of JADEHealth’s stakeholder network

The Margit Slachta National Institute for Social Policy (NSZPI) was established on 1 January, 2021, as a background institution of the Ministry of Human Resources and functions as a key background institution for the Ministry of Interior.

Its primary mission is to drive professional development in social politics, child welfare, and child protection through expert activity and contributing to policy making.  

The Institute conducts crucial research, methodological development, and provides statistical information to support the operation and effective law implementation within the sector.  

A central function includes managing training, education, and examination systems to update the competencies of professionals in social and child protection fields. Furthermore, NSZPI coordinates services for vulnerable groups (e.g., disabled persons and those with autism), manages grants, and operates essential services, including the state sign language interpreter system and a 24-hour child/adult danger helpline. 

Besides providing various professional in-service training for experts and field professionals, NSZPI supports social policy implementation by preparing background materials, studies and analysis to enhance policy decision-making, taking into account professional recommendations and needs of state, social/welfare institutions maintained by religious denominations, NGO-s and local governments.  

Methodological support covers persons caring for people suffering from dementia at day care or nursing homes, including their relatives, with the aim of enhancing knowledge transfer and sharing experiences with the relevant working groups via a Regional Professional Support System.  

Among the many various tasks the Institute is responsible for, the most important ones are: 

  • providing in service training and continuing education for professionals working in social services, child welfare, and child protection providing individual care services and organising exams for them;
  • ensuring equal opportunities for people with disabilities; raising awareness about the rights of people with disabilities as outlined in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities; providing specific awareness-raising and educational services; equipment rental;
  • coordination among domestic service providers specialised in autism care and cooperation in the development and support of their services for people living with autism,
  • professional task performance in grant management, support for the operation of professional organizations and programs that aim to improve quality of life, for organizations and institutions assisting persons living with disabilities,
  • providing management and central budgetary support for certain social service providers and institutions. 

The Margit Slachta National Institute for Social Policy operates 

  •     the training, coordination, and examination centre for the social welfare sector,
  •     the Social Sector Portal a website dedicated to welfare, and participates in the operation and development of national registration systems,
  •     a 24-hour, toll-free telephone hot line service to provide professional, effective and timely response to phone calls reporting  endangerment of a child or an adult,
  •     performs secretarial services related to the operation of the In -Service Training Qualification Board in charge of monitoring and evaluating social and welfare training schemes.
  •    operates the sign language interpreting service system provided free of charge by the state, and providing methodological guidance for the service
  •    provides care and employment for persons with changed working capacity, including occupational rehabilitation or related services specified by law, including professional  & personal HR development, coordination and information services,
  •   runs basic rehabilitation services and methodological activities for visually impaired persons.

We both share a   comprehensive and holistic approach to healthcare, focusing on enhancing health literacy, raising awareness about dementia, and promoting early detection through screening and primary prevention, particularly among high-risk populations like individuals living with brain health issues.
