“Una cum” is a non-governmental organization established to improve the quality of life for people with chronic diseases at a general societal level, serving as a knowledge, support, and innovation platform for patients, caregivers, and professionals.

The mission of Una Cum is to improve the quality of life of patients living with chronic diseases and assisting their family members by providing them comprehensive support, promoting public awareness and advocating for their rights to create inclusive and person-centred care.

Activities of the Foundation also include raising awareness on cognitive impairment, sharing innovative social rehabilitation solutions, and reducing stigma in society.

Una Cum wishes to be the leading non-governmental service provider in Latvia in the field of chronic disease care offering reliable support, education and enhancing policy-based changes in order that people living with chronic and neuro neurodegenerative diseases can live a dignified life.

Strategic Directions 2025–2028

The Foundation’s strategy for the next three years foresees the following priorities:

• Support for people living with dementia – the main focus will be the establishment of a Dementia Resource Centre in Latvia, serving as a knowledge, support, and innovation platform for patients, caregivers, and professionals.

• Cognitive impairment – special attention will be devoted to addressing cognitive impairment, including when it occurs as a comorbidity of other chronic diseases.

• Establishment of the Alzheimer’s Association of Latvia – following the example of similar organisations in other EU countries, Una Cum aims to facilitate the creation of a national Alzheimer’s Association to unite patients, families, and professionals, represent their interests, and strengthen public awareness and advocacy at both national and international levels.

Una Cum provides its services based on following the principles below:
