We Welcome JA PRISM (Prevention-oriented Rights-based Approach to Support Mental Health in Vulnerable Population Groups) that has Officially Begun its Journey

The new Joint Action launched this week has the aim of improving mental health in vulnerable groups across Europe through a preventive and human rights-based approach.

It is funded by the European Commission with €6 million by the EU4Health programme. PRISM will last three years, has 59 partners from 20 European countries supporting collaborative action between 18 Member Stations, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.

PRISM includes 61 implementations of innovative good practices focused on suicide prevention, support groups for older people to alleviate loneliness, and the psychosocial well-being of children and adolescents with the aim of reducing mental health problems among vulnerable population groups, reducing the burden of mental health problems.

JA PRISM seeks to adapt and transfer best practices to multiple contexts, improving access to evidence-based services, promoting person-centred care and combating the stigma associated with mental disorders.

Based on the above JADE Health considers PRISM as a sister initiative, as it supports mental health improvement for vulnerable groups, particularly for the elderly, migrants and youth.

During the kick-off event 24th-25th September in Bilbao, JADE Health activities were presented by Bernardino Morillo, representing FUNDESALUD, the lead partner and coordinator of the JADE Health’s consortium.

PRISM will be implemented in 7 work packages, under the lead of Biosistemak (Spain) as the project coordinator and will roll out three best practices from the EU Best Practice Portal on Public Health

- BIZI suicide prevention programme from Osakidetza

- Circle of Friends loneliness among elderly people

- Act, Belong, Commit (ABC) emotional wellbeing programme for children and young people, developed by Curtin University.

We look forward to build synergies and boost collaboration with PRISM as yet another EU funded project to enhance mental health improvement for vulnerable groups. Together we’ll build a strong European preventive mental health network based on rights.
