On June 30th, 2025, 15 members of JADE HEALTH’s Work Package 8, gathered in a workshop to share progress and discuss key findings

The workshop was organised by the Faculty of Nursing of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences and Deutsches Zentrum für Neurodegenerative Erkrankungen, responsible for Task 1 of WP8, which included collecting reviews of the current state of care pathways for persons with dementia and neurodegenerative disorders, focusing on evidence-based models and digital solutions.

The major task of Jade health work package “Care pathways for persons with dementia and neurodegenerative disorders” (WP8) is to prepare and support evidence-based decisions for integrated post-diagnostic best practices, and to develop 8 pilots in 5 different countries to improve current care pathways for persons with dementia and neurodegenerative disorders.

By the end of the project country-specific recommendations for service development and clinical pathways must be elaborated by WP8, which can enhance and improve the sustainability of integrated care models, as well as consider challenges in resource allocation, affordability, accessibility, and equity so as to promote quality of care for persons with dementia and neurodegenerative disorders.

The session that took place online, presented results from a systematic review and expert survey, and could identify best practices suitable for piloting and implementation. The goal of the workshop aimed at exchanging best practices and ensure alignment with local needs, providing valuable insights to guide the project’s next steps and enhance dementia care development.

Participants emphasized the importance of consistent, person-centred and multidisciplinary dementia care pathways across Europe. Updates were shared by pilot sites in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Lithuania, and Spain (including Extremadura, Asturias, Cantabria (IDIVAL) and Murcia), covering progress, challenges and tailored care approaches.

The workshop also highlighted the role of digital tools, quality indicators, and barriers and facilitators identified through the review.

We thank all participants for their great contribution!
